Person Of Interest

This a new television show on CBS. All of the commercials really made us want to check it out. So we did. My thoughts: it started out fast. Like a show I knew would be hard to miss. Then about halfway through it hit a wall. A wall so thick I was tempted to flip to Food Network's Chopped reruns. That also had a little to do with recording the show. And that I was playing some Madden 12. But I kept the show on and I am glad I did. It quickly picked up the pace and end with a bang ( no pun intended). So it is a really good show and worth watching. It's not NCIS, Criminal Minds or Castle, but it is a good show.

Your current employer and future employer actually negotiate your notice

See title.
Has this ever happened to you?
Recently I applied for a job. I actually told my current employer that I applied for this job.
Why?
Marriage. The company I work for services the company I applied for. So there could be no surprises, I told my current employer I applied.
Since then, I was offered the position and I accepted.
So I gave my 2 week notice. My current employer said woooooaaa that will put us in a bind.
So he called my future employer and they negotiated my release, I mean my last day.
I should ask them to get together and tell me what to eat for dinner or what to wear to church on Sunday. But I won't.
I am busting my but training a person to fill in until they hire someone. So when I get to my new position I only have less than 2 weeks to train with the guy who is retiring. I am taking the position of someone who is retiring.

At first I had negative feelings toward that but since then, you know it is all good. The Good Lord got me this far so I trust in Him to keep me going.
I am very happy with this change and this new opportunity. This is the type of job I have been gunning toward if I were to stay in the transportation realm. Yes I am still in transportation but not in trucking (per se). No more "Big Trucks". Logistics describes my new career.
My point is, why complain. I will give my current employer all I got. And on Monday I will give my new employer all I got.
Plus - the mission statement for my current employer is all about the customer. Guess what? Now I am that customer!!!!!!!!

Seeing Inside Your Own Heart

I had an ultrasound of my heart today. I get one about every 3 years. Dr. Thomas has to make sure my mechanical aortic valve is still working properly. I think it is amazing to be able to see inside of my own heart. To see the valve flapping away and working like a locomotive is awesome. To actually be able to see moving parts (real and prosthetic) and blood flowing is crazy. With modern medicine we are able to see inside of our hearts ( and other parts). But you know even without an ultrasound machine or an x-ray, we can each look inside of our hearts. What is in our hearts? Love? Hate? Greed? Joy? Sorrow? We've probably all experienced these feelings and more. I know I have. So each day I strive to have positive feelings flow inside and through me so my heart is full of love, joy, peace, kindness and generosity. With these feelings and others I can also show the love of God within me.

Doing the math ... It ain't that easy in Fantasy Football

This is week 1. I am playing in 4 leagues (one starts next week). Going into the 2 NFL games tonight my fingers and toes are working. So far I am leading my games in the 3 leagues that started week 1.
Cletus' Pork Pie Hats has a 101 to 63 lead over my opponent.
DA Dodger Blues has a 104 to 51 lead.
Hayden's Heroes has a 77 to 55 lead.
no biggie right... I am winning in all 3 ....BUT here is where the tense stickiness of Fantasy Football really sets in.
when you play in more than one league, chances are, you will have to root for and against the same player. Chances are you will have a player on your team and someone you are playing in another league will have that player.
Last Thursday night I had Drew Brees in one league and was playing against him in another.
so going into tonight. I need the following things to happen.

I need Darren McFadden (RB - Oakland) to just light it up...SCORE SCORE SCORE !!!!!!!
he is my only player left for Cletus. the bad thing is (yes I have a big lead, but) the guy I am playing still has 4 players left to play. One of them is Tom Brady (QB Patriots). That is bad....why, because I need Tom Brady to look good because he is my QB for Hayden's Heroes.....but he cant look too good because I am playing against him again with DA Dodger Blues ......
confused yet?

me too, but this is what I need...

as long as the Dolphins Def, Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall and Denver RB Keshown Mareno don't look too good, then Tom Brady can do decent. If he does decent and Sebastian Janikowski (K Raiders) does good then I should be OK for DA Dodgier Blues.
But I still need Tom Brady to do good enough so Hayden's Heroes can prevail...or BenJarvis Green Ellis (RB Patriots) and the Patriots Kicker (Gostkowski) can not do too well....

I am really confused now....my goal is to start out one and O in all 3 leagues, but to win for Cletus may be difficult...so If Brady does well, I should be quoting Meatloaf "Two outta Three ain't bad."

Next year - I AM NOT PLAYING FANTASY FOOTBALL !!!!!!!!!

Sunday Reflections (The Big House, The Chow House and The "They Make Money No Matter What" House

During the Hymn singing at Church yesterday - we were singing Count Your Blessings. This is a wonderful, well written song. But during it, I couldn't help but think "It would be cool to hear the Cowardly Lion (Wizard of Oz) sing this song. Then I thought about when we were kids. We used to sing the Hymns at church like Bob Dylan and Bob Marley. Every now and then we threw a little Elvis or Frank Sinatra in there. Sometimes, I catch myself doing this even today.
God does have a sense of humor.

We at lunch at Zea's yesterday. It has been awhile. And this place is still really good. It has always been a great meal. thanks Zea for your consistency over the years.

At Macy's we saved over 300 bucks on the retail price of some clothes. All the stores had huge Labor day sales. Old Navy- everything 40% off. Macy's had discounts on top of discounts, then more with coupons. The shoe store had big sales.
Great for the consumer. But don't feel bad for the retailer - they still make money.
They wouldn't be able to advertise like they do if they didn't. So I wonder how much that Tommy Hilfinger (I really don't know how to spell it) shirt that I got for 9.99 cost Macy's .....

one more thought of Old Navy - Those mannequins (thanks spell check) on the TV commercials really creep me out. When I saw them live and in person yesterday - more creeped out. Weird.

Stomach Pains

Was it the 3 over medium eggs? Was it the hash browns with onions? Was it the coffee? The toast? The water?
Every year, about this time, my stomach starts to hurt. The cramps increase. The nervous tension mounts.
This is a good pain.
It's time for LSU football.
So hopefully the night of Jan. 9, 2012, they will go away.

Ebony and Ivory

Playing Words With Friends. I had the word ebony in my letters. I tried and tried to play it but could not. The result - I started singing the song "Ebony and Ivory" by Paul and Mikey (McCartney and Jackson). Now I can't get the song out of my head.

Also one last thought. If the Saints picked up a player with Ebony as a last name they would have Ebony and Ivory.
